Vintage Sweden » Saami Women from Fatmomakke

Mov tjidtjie lij Vualtjereste, jïh Vualtjere lea Faepmiem gietskese. Dah guaktah laegan åarjelsaemien-nïejteh Faepmiesne, bïne mejtie sån garrah-nïejte julevsaemien-nïejte. Ij lea sov boenge-skuvmie sïejhme Åarjel-Saebmiesne, bïne Julevsaemieh dagkerem utnieh.

My mother was from Vualtjere (Vilhelmina), close to Faepmie (Fatmomakke). These two are - presumably - two South Saami girls from Faepmie, but the girl on the left might actually be a Lule Saami girl. Her collar is not usually of the type found in southern Sápmi, but it is similar to the collars worn by the Lule Saami.
